- Roark Capital Group, a private equity firm based in Atlanta, Georgia, has acquired Central Jersey Waste and Recycling, Inc., Premier Food Waste Recycling Inc. and Central Repairs Inc. for an undisclosed amount.
- Central Jersey Waste and Recycling, based in Ewing, New Jersey, services almost 30 municipalities and 1,000 commercial customers in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. In addition, under its Premier Food Waste Recycling division, the company collects and transports organics and food waste products.
- CEO Ed Apuzzi and COO Joe LoVerde will oversee Roark's Synergy Environmental Corp. unit. LoVerde was previously in charge of operations for Progressive Waste in the Northeast.

Roark's other environmental holdings include Waste Pro USA Inc., GFL Environmental Corp. and Quala Holdings LLC. The firm also owns and operates Cinnabon, Arby's, Carvel, Moe's Southwest Grill and Corner Bakery. Roark has $3 billion of equity capital under management.
