Dive Brief:

• Harvest Power is joining forces with two hotels—the Ritz-Carlton and Marriott—to recycle food waste collected from the Grande Lakes Orlando resort in Florida.
• Harvest Power creates renewable energy from organics, and provided a complete food waste process for the hotel. 
• The company completed an assessment of the resort's operational procedures and trained employees, added food waste containers for collection and coordinated the transport of the waste to an anaerobic digestion facility or "Energy Garden." The waste will be transformed into energy and fertilizer.

Dive Insight:

The Grande Lakes Orlando currently composts its food waste. Chris Peters, the vice president of Harvest Power, said "We see the hospitality industry quickly shifting to offer increased recycling." Harvest Power also converts food waste from Disney World, which is also located in Orlando.
