• Global Clean Energy, Inc. (GCE), a waste-to-energy alternative fuels firm, has announced a deal with Liberty Tire Recycling, touted as one of the largest tire recyclers in the nation.
• The company established a long-term supply agreement with the recycler, who will furnish tire scraps to be used as feedstock for GCE. 
• The contract gives GCE the opportunity to move forward with a tire-to-fuel project that seeks to transform tires into carbon char and transportation fuel via pyrolysis gasification technology. 

Dive Insight:

The project is anticipated to produce an annual yield of 1.5 million gallons of fuel every year, as 800,000 tires are expected to be diverted from landfills. In addition, GCE plans to build more facilities to replicate the process in other facilities across the U.S. 

Pyrolysis has the potential to become a $9 billion industry, according to a recent report released by the American Chemistry Council. If estimates are correct, GCE could potentially become a major force within the country. Up to 600 pyrolysis plants could be established in the states as the technology involved in the progresses rapidly.
